Established in his memory

Every child taught
is a life he still touches.

The Amar Singh Memorial Trust carries forward one man's belief that education is the surest inheritance a community can give its children.

About the Trust

A namesake, not a monument

Amar Singh spent his life believing that a classroom could change a family's future faster than anything else he knew. He kept that conviction long after he had the means to look away from it, funding tuitions, building small libraries, and sitting with teachers long into the evening to talk through a struggling student's lessons.

"Build the school first. Everything else a village needs will follow it."

The Amar Singh Memorial Trust was founded to continue that work in his name — not as a plaque on a wall, but as a standing commitment to the students, teachers, and schools he would have wanted us to reach.

His Life

A brief timeline of the man behind the name

1868

Born into a farming family

Grew up watching most of the children around him leave school before the age of ten, once their families needed another pair of hands in the fields.

1890s

Opens a one-room school

After years of saving, converts a family outbuilding into the village's first schoolroom, and teaches evening classes there himself.

1910s

Starts a scholarship for girls

Sets aside part of his income to keep girls in the classroom — an uncommon commitment for the time, and one he never advertised.

1920s

A second school opens

Works with a small group of local teachers to open a second school nearby, insisting it be built to the same standard as the first.

1934

Passes away

Villagers and former students continue funding the two schools out of their own pockets, in his memory, long after he is gone.

Today

The Trust carries the work forward

Formally established to expand on his original two schools, the Amar Singh Memorial Trust now supports scholarships, school infrastructure, and teacher training in his name.

Our Mission

We exist to put education within reach of every child, regardless of what their family can afford to give them.

That means funding school fees before they become the reason a child drops out, keeping classrooms supplied and standing, and standing behind the teachers who do the daily work of holding a child's attention on a future worth reaching for.

What a Gift Makes Possible

Every contribution has a clear destination

We keep our asks specific, so you know exactly what your support is doing.

Covers a year of tuition, books, and exam fees for one student.

₹25,000

Repairs a classroom roof, or furnishes it with proper desks and benches.

₹60,000

Funds a full year of training and materials for one teacher.

How the Trust Works

Three articles of the founding charter

Article I

Scholarships

Tuition, books, and exam fees covered for students whose education would otherwise end at the family's next hard year.

Article II

Schools & Classrooms

Grants toward repairs, furniture, and basic supplies so no lesson is taught around a leaking roof or a missing bench.

Article III

Teacher Support

Training, materials, and small stipends for the teachers who do the actual work of keeping a child in school.

Voices from the Schools

Told by the people the Trust reaches

"My daughter is the first in our family to finish school. The Trust paid her fees for three years running — we would not have managed on our own."

Meena Devi
Parent, Partner School

"The teacher training the Trust funded changed how I run my classroom. My students are more confident asking questions now."

Rakesh Yadav
Primary School Teacher

"I want to be a doctor. The scholarship means I can stay in school instead of finding work, which is what almost happened."
